Centuries of spirituality and purpose
The land where The Providence stands has been a place of service, hospitality and quiet care for more than fifty years, and the spirit of that work reaches back nearly two hundred years. The Daughters of Charity arrived in Albany, NY, in 1828. They still live on campus today. Franciscan Ministries, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, with more than 130 years of experience caring for older adults, carries that work forward.
This is not a history lesson. It is a living story. The Providence is being built around a legacy and the responsibility to leave this land better than we found it.

Dining at The Providence is guided by FreshKitchen, Franciscan Ministries’ in-house dining program. Every meal is scratch-made, locally sourced when possible and served with the kind of hospitality that makes the dining room feel like the heart of the community.

The most reassuring thing about a well-made plan is that it lets you focus on living. As a Life Plan Community, residents of The Providence will enjoy a full continuum of lifestyle and care options, including independent living, assisted living and memory care, all within one connected community.
Our residences are designed to support different preferences and levels of flexibility, while ensuring priority access to the full range of living and care options. That means if needs ever change, the right support is already in place.
Each resident member will also have the benefit of 10 prepaid healthcare days that you can use for temporary respite stays or for a permanent move to assisted living or memory care. After your prepaid days are used, you have a 20% healthcare discount. This means you can protect your financial investment by knowing you are never paying full price for your care.
